A Word on PLO8
I had a pretty interesting Sunday yesterday in which I played for about 13 hours and profited about $150. Most people would say making that in a day is a good thing. And while it is a good thing to be up money rather than down, with the volume I am playing and the weakness of the fields on Sunday I am pretty disappointed about the overall results. I did final table a OHiLo tournament and finished in 6th for $294.75.

This tourney was a pretty weak field. I consider myself a pretty much pure NL Hold'em player but do think  that I am fairly strong in PL OHiLo. I won the nightly PLO8 tournament a couple months ago but until now have had very little other successes. I think PLO8 is a game of reading people and hands and once you have a read on your opponent, making them make really tough decisions about what to do next. In order to win these tournaments you have to get lucky...a lot. I played well, yes, but in order to get deep you really need to make hands and have them hold. I got unlucky to get knocked out but by the final table the average player had only 8bbs. I was pretty happy with the result, though the $1440 for first would have been nice too.

NOTHING happened anywhere else..
In all the remaining tournaments I cash in 4 of them but had no real deep runs. The skill level of the players will allow you to get lots of chips and build a chance to win or get busted early. Never more are there players open shoving 30 hands in a row in a $26 tournament than on sunday. I think I was down about $100 in the NLH tourneys I played.
This Week
I have no huge plans to play this week as it is multi-entry week on Full Tilt and I don't play anywhere else. I will likely attack the midnight madness tournament with the max 4 entries because the fields are so weak and with the double guarantee week going on also, it will be a $7k first prize with me getting a shot at it four times. By far my most successful tournament I hope to make a final table or two playing that this week. FTOPS is right around the corner but I don't think I will be playing at all. I think with the multi-entries I have a huge disadvantage to the better, higher stake players. It looks like I will finish the last week of the month not playing a whole lot. I have put in good hours and had a nice little profit for the first month of the year. I want to keep pushing it and reach my goal ASAP and shoot by it. I have been living on TournamentPokerEdge.com and hope it shows in my game!
